Miami University’s Scripps Gerontology Center, in Oxford, Ohio has a new website that shows the projected aging trends for the State of Ohio (https://ohio-population.org/residents). It won’t take long for the average internet surfer to realize after looking at the website that the population over the age of 60 is rising at a rapid pace. Take for instance Clark County, home to the Ohio Masonic Home. In 2010, 22.7% of the individuals living in Clark County were over the age of 60. By the year 2030 that number is projected to increase to 31.1%.
As we have been writing in the Beacon for the past year, people are living longer, more productive lives, and with the advancements in technology and services they want to do so at home.
For over 120 years, the Ohio Masonic Home has been the trusted resource to allow people to age respectfully. The Ohio Masonic Home has recently expanded our partnership with VRI (Valued Relationships Incorporated), an Ohio based corporation that is the largest medical monitoring company in the Midwest. With over 85,000 subscribers to date, VRI services are designed to help assist homebound individuals with safety, security, and peace of mind so they may remain independent in their home. Headquartered in the Dayton area, VRI has over 23 years experience in providing medical alert, medication management and tele-health services for at-risk older adults. VRI is very proud to have industry leading response times, a 99% customer satisfaction rating, and is consistently in the forefront by providing cutting-edge technology. In fact, VRI was the first company to provide live monitoring for medication management and is the only company with a reliable digital medical alert system.
