Antioch Shrine performs historical ceremony at Springfield Masonic Community
Antioch Shrine made history at The Ohio Masonic Home’s (OMH) Springfield Masonic Community (SMC) October 4 when it performed the 273rd Ceremonial Session, the first Ceremonial ever held at the Springfield campus.
Illustrious Sir Jeff Shaw, Potentate, and Divan members greeted residents prior to the Pote’s Little Symphony Concert. Members of The Past Masters Club performed the Full Form Ceremonial. A separate Ladies Program was also held concurrent with the Ceremonial.
The event was held in honor of Brother Earl Dawson, past president of the Ohio High Twelve Clubs Association. A special plaque will be presented to his widow who was unable to attend the Ceremonial.
The class of candidates included Tom Stofac, Chief Executive Officer of The Ohio Masonic Home, two OMH staff members, an independent living resident who transferred his membership to Antioch, and two additional Masons.
“It was a momentous occasion in which the Antioch Shrine, the Ohio Masonic Home, and the Springfield Masonic Community all came together to participate in the Ceremonial,” said Brother Stofac. “I was honored to be a part of this historical event.”
“The best part of the evening,” said Ill. Sir Shaw, “was the many Shrine residents at Springfield who attended with their fez and repeatedly told Divan members how much they appreciated us coming to Springfield and doing the Ceremonial,” he said.
