A Message from the CEO

Dear Brethren,

I hope this message finds you and your families well. It’s hard to believe it is already fall and we are beginning to plan for 2025. Time sure does go by quickly and it is important to seize the day at every opportunity. This is true of The Ohio Masonic Communities as we work diligently to ensure all of those we are blessed to serve can have the opportunity to live their best lives. This has been our focus for over a century.

Recently, Steve Petitjean, our Chief Operating Officer, and I were honored with an invite from Brother Richard (Dick) and Marjorie Snow to attend the 37th reunion of those who lived here as children. As you can imagine, we were not going to miss this opportunity, so we gladly accepted and attended the luncheon on September 21st. Present were Dick and Marjorie Snow; David and Linda Peron, their daughters Barbara Omer and Cathy Peron; and Don Fielder. Don, David, and Dick all lived at The Ohio Masonic Home in Springfield as children. The Snow’s and Peron’s are back with us here at Springfield Masonic Community and enjoying the lifestyle. It was an amazing and very educational experience to spend time with this group. We learned a great deal about the activities and environment that was provided, some of their many traditions, and reminisced about many others who lived here as children and came back to live out their adult lives who have since passed. It was truly a blessing to be able to seize the day and spend time with this amazing group of people.

I would like to share the “Children’s Blessing before Meals”. It is a great reminder of our past and, to some extent, our present.

Our kind and Heavenly Father,
From whom we all are fed,
And thanks to Thee for our home and friends,
And thanks for our daily bread.
All we eat, and drink, and wear,
Through our Heavenly Father’s care.

Fraternally,
Brother Scott Buchanan
