A Letter From The CEO

Greetings Brethren, Looking back at the illustrious history and journey of the Ohio Masonic Home, we have been blessed with unmatched and unparalleled leadership. From our first superintendent, John W. Parsons and the laying of the first cornerstone at Bushnell in 1892, through the recent dedication of the new Scottish Rite and York Rite buildings, this great organization has been guided by the tenets and principles of Freemasonry, but most importantly, by strong leadership. To say I am honored to be the new CEO of OUR Ohio Masonic Home is an understatement. Perhaps humbled is more fitting a word to define the sentiment I have felt since the OMH board of trustees entrusted me with the leadership role in carrying out the mission of our great and wonderful organization. This opportunity would not be possible without the guidance and support of my fellow Brother Tom Stofac. From my first meeting and interview with Tom, I felt a strong connection to the vision of the ability to age in place that Tom had conveyed. During his five years as CEO, Tom built a culture of trust, winning and innovation. He truly enacted change, fearlessness and thoughtfulness, touching the lives of many brothers, staff, friends, residents and family. I certainly have some large shoes to fill, however, I look forward to continuing down the path that Tom has set this organization on, and I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to work with a man who has done so much for the aging services field. When I started at OMH three years ago as the CFO, little did I know what was in store for me. My life’s journey had led me to this very special place, and from day one, the mission and the vision of this organization was one I undoubtedly wanted to be part of for a very long time. This journey also led to me becoming a Mason, and beginning to explore the many different appendent bodies, and more importantly the values and principles of Freemasonry continue to guide me in both my professional and personal life. Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement during this transition for not only myself, but the Ohio Masonic Home. I look forward to this new opportunity and privilege to serve as your CEO, and like those who came before me, I accept the responsibility of leading this organization into its next 125 years and serving as the trusted partner to help people age respectfully: how they want, where they want. Brother Scott Buchanan, CEO Ohio Masonic Home
