Springfield Masonic Community residents are watching with anticipation as the expansion project continues to move forward. Several smaller projects—such as the renovation of the Community Center, the construction of a parking garage, and the addition of another elevator in the Scottish Rite building—are now complete.
The first major step toward the new buildings required demolition. Structures including a multi-story vacant building and several villas were removed, totaling approximately 75,000 square feet.
Before construction could begin, utilities had to be relocated, including gas, electric, and water lines. Marker Construction, the general contractor, ensured the process ran smoothly.
As construction of the new buildings gets underway, work will begin on the basement and foundation, along with the addition of stairwell towers.
Residents often ask, “When will it be finished?” and “How many apartments will it include?” The expansion will feature a new assisted living neighborhood, a healthcare center, and a memory support neighborhood. The assisted living neighborhood will include 104 apartments, with 24 designated for the Pathways Memory Support Neighborhood. The healthcare center will offer 72 private suites, evenly divided between long-term care and short-term rehabilitation.
The estimated completion date is September 2027 and residents are eagerly counting
the days!
