Over the last several years, you may have wondered “what happened to Home Day?” It was a beloved summer staple of the Fraternity and The Ohio Masonic Communities. Home Day offered Brethren a chance to gather at Springfield Masonic Community in celebration of the good works of The Ohio Masonic Communities and the Fraternity.
Unfortunately, resident, staff, and community safety during the pandemic meant an end to Home Day in 2019. But, this gave The Ohio Masonic Communities a chance to reimagine what Home Day was and what it could be. This is where the idea for Community Fest began.
While Home Day was a fun celebration at the original Ohio Masonic Home, it only highlighted
a fraction of what The Ohio Masonic Communities does. It was also a challenge for Lodges not local to Springfield to be involved. Community Fest is meant to be different. An evolution since 2020, Community Fest celebrates the residents, staff, and community that make each campus special.
After a six-year hiatus of Home Day, The Ohio Masonic Communities is excited to be bringing it back, better than ever, as Community Fest. No longer is it one day in Springfield. Now, it’s three separate and unique events, at Browning Masonic Community, Springfield Masonic Community, and Western Reserve Masonic Community. The commonalities between every Community Fest? Food, fellowship, and fireworks.
While these events have been private to those at each campus for the past few years, they will now be open to the public. Especially to you, the Brethren. Everyone in the community and the Fraternity is invited to attend the one in their area, or all three. Like Home Day, each Community Fest will also offer Lodges a chance to participate, such as setting up a booth to sell items as a fundraiser.
Stay tuned for dates and information about how you and your Lodge can get involved in early 2026!
