Western Reserve Masonic Community(WRMC) is proud to be the trusted home for several U.S. military veterans. These residents have served in every branch of the military and combined have more than 200 years of service covering every year from 1940 to 1968.
Each year WRMC honors its veterans with a Veterans Salute program. The event boasts a color guard formed by the resident veterans, rousing patriotic songs performed by the WRMC choir, and a guest speaker. A pinning ceremony completes the program as Ed Zackery, a local from the Medina Veterans Service Office recognizes each veteran with a pin specific to their branch of service.
In addition to its resident veterans, the Home in Medina also employs former servicemen. Terry Blankschaen, Transportation and Appointment Coordinator served as a part of the U.S. Army Artillery Survey from 1962-1968. He was stationed in Germany during Vietnam, and has lived in Medina for 47 years. Gary Davis, a member of Brecksville Lodge and Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland also works at WRMC. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1967-2004. Gary fought in Vietnam from 1970-1971 and Iraq from 2003-2004. He has lived in Medina for over 30 years.
In remembering the service of these veterans, so too is the person remembered and their life honored. As the Ohio Masonic Home and its affiliates move into the future, we do not forget the past. This dedication to what an individual may one day need and to what he once did is part of what makes the Home the trusted resource to help people age respectfully.
